head size measurement guide

For some styles, I will need your head size to ensure your hat fits comfortably.  When ordering online, you’ll be asked for this information on the hats where it’s needed. If you’re coming in for an appointment, I can take this measurement for you, otherwise please take your head size using the following guidelines:

Using a soft tape measure, take the circumference of your head measuring to the widest part round the back of your head.

You can send me your measurements in either cm or inches.

How will some of the smaller hats and asymmetric styles stay on my head?

Some hats will either have a thin elastic (often the most comfortable & discreet option), a standard or figure of 8 headband, a comb, or comb and elastic combination.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Each hat typically takes between 4-6 weeks to create depending on the style and season. If you require a hat sooner, please get in touch and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request.

Can I customise a hat from the collection?

Absolutely! Please visit my services page for more information. Some designs are subject to colour and material availability, but in most cases I can tailor the design to suit your needs. Contact me directly and we can go through the style you’re interested in.

I really want my hat to match my outfit. Do you offer a dye to match service?

Yes, I can dye-to-match most materials, whether you’re looking to customise a couture hat collection piece or have a bespoke hat specially made. Sourcing a colour is often the most economical option which I will always offer you first. Book a 1-2-1 consultation with me and we can go through the possibilities together.

Why is there a charge for custom colours / fabrications?

To find a specific fabric or colour you’re after, I’ll have to reach out to my trusted suppliers. This sourcing process takes time, as I’ll be ordering in samples and also assessing the quality and properties of fabric to ensure they’re suitable for the design.

If we need to dye-to-match for your hat, this process is an artform in itself and takes time to get the colouration just right.

Often black and off-white customisations can be created at no extra cost, unless the design involves a unique fabric or there’s a particular shade of white that you’d like me to match.

What should I bring to my appointment?

To make the most of your complimentary hour consultation, I’d recommend you bring along the following:

  • your outfit if possible so you can see it together with the hat options

  • if you can’t bring your outfit, a photo of it and colour swatch that matches it (e.g. piece of fabric, reel of thread, paper from a magazine for instance) . This way, I can use it to colour match your hat or we can look at suitable contrasting colours together.

Do you require upfront payments or deposits?

For couture hat collection pieces made without any changes, I ask for full payment upfront, which you can do via my online shop.

If you decide to go for a customised or bespoke hat design, I’ll provide you with a quote after our initial hour consultation. To go ahead, I require a 50% deposit and the balance will be payable after your final fitting and sign off. More information is available on my terms and conditions page, though don’t hesitate to drop me a mail if you have further questions.
